46: COIN (A-→A)

COIN in tier list

good, consistent, first two albums are really good and then two meh and then most recent steps it up

RELISTEN1: I did a little relisten and I liked it more than I remembered. I think it’s fair to bump it up from top A- to bottom A

RELISTEN2: first album I really like quite a lot, it’s super solid, lots of songs I really like, good album. Second album is not as good but still pretty solid. Third album also not as good but still decent, and has one of my favorite COIN songs (Never Change) in it, so that’s a plus. Fourth is way better than I remembered, I think I thought of it as kinda mid but I actually rather liked it, probably my second favorite all around album of theirs. Thematically it’s a little weak I think, lots of whining feelings, but the music doesn’t feel whiny so it’s easy to ignore it/hear it in a better light. Album five has Chapstick, which is probably my favorite of their songs, but the album as a whole I’m not convinced about this time around. I think it’s almost very good but instead is just mostly good. I dunno. All around, though, I like them a lot more than I remembered. Before I thought they were good, but also kind of basic and uninspired. I think there’s a part of me that still feels that, just because they have such a “poppy” sound, but I think they do a good job of building off of it and making cool stuff with it. I’m gonna say a higher A after all, cause yes I do like them a lot more than I used to but not enough to warrant a shift up to A+, that’s a big jump
