EDIT1: didn’t grow on me like I’d hoped, still love him but I think he’s stable in his A+ spot now
RELISTEN1: get pranked bro, stable shmable. Did a relisten, and my strongest impression for Jim Croce is that while I really like him, I don’t know that I like his music as much as I wish I did. He reads to me as tender and good and he does have a lot of songs I absolutely love. But he’s also got lots of songs that are just pretty good. I like them, they are good- but “pretty good” is not what A+ is for. My ultimate verdict at this juncture is that he’s got plenty of “pretty good” songs, buoyed up by the fact that the albums are very good as albums, plus a good chunk of songs I really love scattered about. Some of which are some of my all time favorite songs. So, down to a comfortable A. I think that’s appropriate, as much of a bummer it is to knock him down
