only one album, but another dozen songs of eps and singles and I’m impressed, super consistent, super jamming, curious to see where they go in the future both in making more music and in how I like them more or less with more listens
RELISTEN1: like more and more and more with more listens, pretty much exactly my jam. Another good album on par with the first and that’s an easy S rank (no major change)
RELISTEN2: first album slaps, somehow even harder than I remembered and I remembered it slapping pretty hard. Just, like, dang, bro. This album rocks so hard, I’d forgotten. First half in particular is just banger after banger after banger. Second half doesn’t hit as hard but it’s still great, the whole album is top tier.
Second album is super good. I listened to it when it came out and decided to wait for a bit to let myself sit on it for a while before I applied it to a relisten and reranking for Still Woozy. Now I have sat on it for a bit, and I’m ready.
I like it a lot. It’s definitely still Still Woozy, it still is the vibe, it still is the consistently well produced and well constructed songs I want from him, it’s a great continuation from If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is. But it’s still not what I think I wanted it to be. And that’s a little unfair, but so it is. I think it’s good, but not as good. I think it has songs that hit, but not as many. And it’s not even that they don’t hit as hard, because I think they kinda do, just not in the same way and I really like the same way, y’know?
If my relisten of Loveseat had panned out a little better I think I would’ve bumped Still Woozy out of S- and into a clean S; as is, I’ll settle to just bump him back up above Bobbing. I do like Bobbing, but I don’t have the same emotional connection to him, I don’t feel his songs the same way I do Still Woozy’s, he just doesn’t have a repertoire that’s meaningful to me yet. Like, a substantial portion of Still Woozy’s songs I cannot not dance to, I turn up the volume can’t help but dance walk to, it’s epic. Bobbing doesn’t have that.
So anyway yeah, slight readjustment within the S- tier, small bump up. I could definitely still see a full S rank in Still Woozy’s future, I want it for him, I just can’t give it right now.
