I’m just excited and proud of myself, is all. One hundred artists ranked! That’s 100, one-zero-zero, folks! I’ve been consistently working on this project every day for the last year now (a little longer), though I started it less officially a month or two (or something) before that. I’ve since listened to a loooooot of music, and if nothing else I’ve come to love listening to music more than I ever did before. It’s something that’s mine, now. Something I can be proud of, something I can claim. This site, maybe less so. It’s ugly and haphazard and slow and if I ever look at my rankings for longer than a minute I start to think that everything on them is wrong. Well, maybe not everything. Everything below A.
But.
The project itself, the music, the process? That I am more than happy with. A hundred artists, gosh. That’s wild. I could not be more pleased, more content. There’s still so much to do, of course there is. This will never be finished. I’ve just barely gathered the courage to start adding country artists to my list, I haven’t touched rap, I haven’t touched… well, a lot, actually. For all of my expansion of taste I’ve been fairly insular in the broad scheme of things. I think I’m ready to just start adding everything to my list, to become truly indiscriminate. Random number generator every time (unless I have a personal recommendation, I still wanna prioritize those). I’m gonna get some Ds, maybe look for some Fs. And along the way I’m sure I’ll find more stuff I love, and I’m sure I will grow to love more kinds of stuff. I am ecstatic to have carried through on this so far and I’m looking forward to keeping on going. This is awesome.
