142: Fleetwood Mac (B+)

Fleetwood Mac in tier list

I really am not confident about this ranking at all. I think this B+ will work as a decent placeholder for now, but I definitely foresee some shifting, some rearranging in the future for this one. Partly just because it’s so much, it’s hard to keep a handle on a single coherent opinion about a band for 19 albums, especially when said band is basically three different bands. Right, you’ve got the Peter Green blues beginning, then the Nicks and Buckingham era, plus the bits and pieces that have neither Green nor Nicks/Buckingham. There are big parts that I very much like, and there are big parts that I care so little about. I think, on the whole, I like each time they end an era, they get better at stuff as they do more of it, and then they switch to something different and have to learn it again. They’re last blues albums are my favorite of their blues albums, and they’re very last album (released 2003, jeez, that’s a 35+ year run for Fleetwood and McVie, that’s legit) is my favorite of all their stuff, I actually really like their last album. Anyway, all of that to say that my first impression is that there’s a lot I like and I lot I don’t, and it’ll take some time and exposure before I really know how I feel about them. I could see it going either way, but I suspect they’ll grow on me
