177: Peach Tree Rascals (A-)

Peach Tree Rascals in tier list

I like it quite a bit. There’s stuff I wish were just a little different, but most of that is organizational. All of their music is in singles and EPs, and that’s a nuisance. I don’t want to sift through 30 singles, it’s a pain. It’s a pain to try and figure out which EPs are collections of already released singles and it’s a pain to have to click through that many more individual things to add them to a queue. I also just like albums, dangit. Albums communicate something singles and EPs don’t, they provide an opportunity for a greater work, I want to hear that, my whole listening system is built around albums. They’ve got no real full albums. Camp Nowhere is right on the edge— I’m inclined to give it to them and call it an album because I like it a lot, but it’s a close thing.

That’s mostly an aside, though, organizational. Contentwise, musically, I do like them. They’re fun and interesting and they show a lot of potential to keep getting better. Even just listening to their first batch of singles (covering a span of about two years) there’s huge improvement. So yeah, overall they’re solid, really quite good. Super my jam, I like em a lot. They take a little bit to hit their stride, but once they do (about at Camp Nowhere, maybe a bit before) they’re pretty locked in. They might keep growing on me, I wouldn’t be at all opposed to it— for now, top A- feels good

  1. This is fun music. I like it! Makes me feel happy and groovy. I even kept a song – Let U Go. And not only did I keep it, but this morning I woke up and it was playing in my head. What? The last time I listened to it was a few days ago and yet my brain just wouldn’t let it go. Yippee! Peach Tree Rascals get a B- from me. Good job fellas!
