its alright, kinda mid. I’d probably give a lowish B off of my first impression. Fine enough, solid, pretty chunky rock. Nothing that’s hard on the ears, but nothing about it stands out or makes me care, or makes me really want to care. The next album is like that, and the album after that, and so on. Album after album with no real change in anything, it feels like this neverending stream of the same stuff over and over, and I never really liked the stuff all that much to begin with. Whatever shine it had on the first listen is pretty thoroughly gone by the end of album nine. I give it a D
Cold Chisel complete, now listening to: Young the Giant
Chold Chisel! You are ridiculous! Yes to album after album with no real change in anything – just a constant flow of middle-aged man rock – a consistent blend of John Cougar, CCR, Van Halen, ACDC and Journey. Which is cool I guess. Nothing wrong with any of those bands right?
I would start the day listening to Cold Chisel and my first word would often be – seriously? Oh Cold Chisel.
Now let me tell you the thing. The thing is by the end of about a week of listening, after that last bar-stadium-rock Cold Chisel album was over, I kind of missed them. They had become my silly friends that I’m always happy to see even though I can’t really relate to them. Cold Chisel rocked ridiculously straight into my heart. And for that I give them a solid C.
