226: Remi Wolf (A)

Remi Wolf in tier list

kinda slaps, not gonna lie. It’s super tightly produced and arranged, aesthetically textured pop. Which is good, because I’ve been looking forward to listening to her for a while. I’ve loved every single song I’ve heard her with a credit on. Photo ID with Dominic Fike (though that’s pretty thoroughly her song with him on it), pool with Still Woozy, WELLL with Jacob Collier. Once I realized she was a connecting line between all those I got kinda pumped, and I don’t feel let down.

The eps and singles are great, and the albums are solid. I like almost every song, and not just a little. The albums are super consistent, they’re good, but I also feeling like I’m missing something from them (mostly the first one, Juno) that I can’t put my finger on. Iunno. They don’t have any real standouts, but just about every song is super solid. And the thing I’m missing feels more like something I need to give myself time to connect to than something I won’t connect to, or something that doesn’t exist.

Fingers crossed for that, but even without it I can’t deny how consistently enjoyable and high quality all of her stuff is. I can’t really give it anything lower than an A. It being this high up above some other people I love is partly a prediction of how much I’ll enjoy her in a month, but I think that prediction is entirely founded. She’s great.

Remi Wolf complete, now listening to: Gloria Estefan
