this was a really quick listen, just two early aughts country-pop albums, a couple singles, a short EP. They’re alright, I feel like they sound very much like early aughts radio music, like what I would’ve heard on the radio when I was a kid. Which makes sense because that’s what they are, and because If I Die Young was a huge hit, but I also mean that, like… they feel like that, y’know? The association to the type of sound is strong. I know some people get really nostalgic for that, for the type of song they heard on the radio as a kid, which is great, but I don’t think I do. If anything, it makes it feel a little bit more boring to me, like they’re staying inside the box. Because as far as I’m concerned, as far as how I feel I was conditioned to listen to music when I was young, this is the box. So I’ll say I like it alright, but it’s not super my jam. The EP is a stark shift in energy and identity, but it doesn’t really feel like a complete transition, and while I might like the idea of it a little better I don’t like it loads better, and I think the execution is still a little lacking. Overall I’m thinking a B-
