the first album got me a little bit excited. I liked it a fair bit, and more than that I felt like I liked the idea of it, I felt like I could see where it was trying to go and I wanted to go there too. It turned out I could not see where it was trying to go. They took a pretty hard turn into the mellow, into a kind of dreaminess that does not get me grooving. They had one album, Shangri-La Is Calling, that was still pretty well into that style but which for whatever reason I connected with better than the others (except the first album, which I still liked most). Mostly, though, they ended up in a place I don’t dislike at all, but that I don’t quite gel with. I don’t dislike it, it’s pleasant enough, it just doesn’t hold my attention terribly well. Altogether I give it a pretty solid B-
