295: Spacey Jane (A+)

Spacey Jane in tier list

this band was recommended to me as “one of the only real modern bands that are doing something new and exciting” and “[not reliant] on guitars the same way that… other bands in their same space [are]”. Those things are all definitely not at all true. But! I did like them pretty well pretty immediately, and that feeling only grew as I listened. The second album in particular, Here Comes Everybody, I think is excellent, 9/10 on a first listen (which is pretty legit, I don’t call an album 9/10 willy-nilly), and I ended up listening to it four times on its day. I might come to like it and rate it even more highly given time, that seems very plausible, but I gotta wait and see for that I think. Third album is aight, not as good as the second but definitely good, it doesn’t bring down my feelings of the band at all. I don’t actually think there was a single song I didn’t like, which is pretttty legit.

Again, a very standard indie rock outfit, drums, bass guitar, guitar, some synth, vocals. Absolutely none of the things I was told it is. But! I like it very much a lot. A+, even! Very much a fan

Spacey Jane complete, now listening to: Wild Party
