There’s just the one album. It was recommended to me by someone who was in Chicago while they were around, who knew a guy who knew the band personally, someone who’d once helped man the merch table at a gig Loud Lucy was co-heading with Weezer.
I liked it, but I don’t think I really have any feelings attached to it. I think it’s entirely possible that at some point in the future I do; it seems like it could be that sort of thing, particularly since there is a pretty tangible connection to the person who recommended them to me, and I think very well of that recommender. The band becomes more real for that, I think, becomes a collection of musicians who are people who are artists rather than just being a chunk of songs that I listened to.
I think right now, off this first listen, it still feels closer to just the chunk of songs, to me. Pretty decent chunk of songs, though, and I’m hopeful to like it more with time. An A- is a little optimistic, a little forward looking, but I think I’m alright with that.
Loud Lucy complete, now listening to: The Mitchell Trio
