Depeche Mode in tier list sooooo boring, so consistently not engaging. Just, tons of albums, the albums are too long, the songs in the albums are too long. It’s all samey and repetitive and I got tired of it so fast, and it was never able to grow on me to make up the difference.Continue reading “134: Depeche Mode (D-)”

133: boygenius (B)
boygenius in tier list some songs I like, lots of songs that seem nice but aren’t my vibe. I dunno, seem alright but not my jam RELISTEN1: the half of the record (the name of the record is the record, for those unfamiliar) that I like, I really like quite a lot. The half ofContinue reading “133: boygenius (B)”
132: Foo Fighters (A-)
Foo Fighters in tier list I like ‘em a lot, I like the vibe, like lots of individual songs, like a bunch of their albums as albums, I feel like they do a good job of finding the line between consistent and exploratory. Could definitely see them growing on me
131: Ben Folds (A)
Ben Folds in tier list Initially I merged Ben Folds and Ben Folds Five into one ranking ‘cause they’re both mostly Ben Folds and I didn’t feel they felt different enough from each other to warrant two separate rankings. Did a RELISTEN1: definitely think that was a mistake, they’re totally different, and I think IContinue reading “131: Ben Folds (A)”
130: Reliably Bad (A-→B)
Reliably Bad in tier list just one album and some singles, but I like it. Super consistent, bright, fun, funky. Don’t like it as much as other stuff that it reminds me of (upstate, sammy rae), but I could say that changing with time. We’ll see how it grows on me RELISTEN1: it never reallyContinue reading “130: Reliably Bad (A-→B)”
129: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (A-)
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in tier list significantly better than Oasis, just instantly way more polished and better put together, I feel. Not a ton of individual songs I love, but the overall quality is high, and the second two albums I liked quite a bit as albums. Would not be at all surprisedContinue reading “129: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (A-)”
128: Oasis (B-)
Oasis on tier list I could see this growing on me or not, but I think it’s more likely it doesn’t. That’s the main reason it’s just below Smashing Pumpkins and not just above it, is I probably like both similarlyish off a first listen, but I’m more intrigued by Pumpkins. Oasis for the mostContinue reading “128: Oasis (B-)”
127: Kings of Leon (A-→A)
Kings of Leon in tier list early on remind me a little bit of Cage the Elephant, and a lot of The War on Drugs, in a way that makes me think maybe I should go back and try to listen to tWoD again. Later started to remind me a lot of Her’s, for muchContinue reading “127: Kings of Leon (A-→A)”
126: Bastille (B-→D-)
Bastille in tier list might get better with time but I’m not holding my breath. I dunno, just never really kept my attention, felt bland and repetitive. Not bad, just… uninspired, I guess. I dunno, I feel like I’m being really harsh and I really don’t feel harshly against them, I like ‘em, they’re prettyContinue reading “126: Bastille (B-→D-)”
125: The Smiths (F+→F)
The Smiths in tier list the albums remind me a lot of Kaiser Chiefs, I don’t particularly like Kaiser Chiefs (and obviously it would be Kaiser Chiefs that remind me of The Smiths, technically, but I listened to Kaiser Chiefs first so that’s my reference). The singles I think are better, but my biggest issueContinue reading “125: The Smiths (F+→F)”
