275: Nickel Creek (B)

Nickel Creek in tier list

ehh… I’m mildly torn. The three earlier albums I don’t jive with terribly well. I could see myself liking them, mostly. Maybe if my parents had been into it, maybe if I’d listened to it a lot growing up, it’d be powerful for me now. I think I could see that. But I didn’t grow up listening to it, so as it stands, I think it’d take some time and work for it to grow into that and I don’t particularly care to give it that time and care? Without that work, it’s not incredibly compelling to me. The most recent two, A Dotted Line and Celebrants, are much more my speed. They’re enough more just… I dunno, mainstream pop-ish for me, I guess? I dunno. I’m too basic for the bluegrassy bluegrass, I guess. Whatever it is, I like those two a fair bit, though they’re still not my favorite. Destination, the song I already knew and had grown to love, that made me excited to listen to these guys, is by far my favorite song from them after listening to everything. That happens, but it is a bit of a bummer. So yeah, I like them, but I could definitely like them more, I’ll give a solid B. Ugh, my low Bs are kinda a mess, but this’ll do for now

Nickel Creek complete, now listening to: Dios
