330: Roxette (C)

Roxette in tier list

I think this is almost certainly too harsh a ranking. Throughout all the time I was listening to them, I had them pretty locked into my head as a B or a B-. But then, I was looking at my other artists and kinda going through those comparisons and trying to figure out where this fits, where it’s surrounded by other artists I feel somewhat similarly to, and I think this makes sense? I dunno. More evidence to the whole (obvious and certainly true) idea that the rankings should be scrapped entirely.

My logic is that I was more bored while listening to this band, overall, than I was for most of my Bs, even though in a very real way I like them and think they’re quite good. They feel very representative of their sound and their time in a way that I think is neat. I appreciate it. To be totally honest, I think I just got tired of listening to them. Given time, I fully expect I’ll cool down on that and find myself able to more purely enjoy them. They have lots and lots of stuff that I mostly just think is fun.

But for now, I am having too hard of a time actually having fun with those parts that I think are fun, so I’m putting them in the “wish I liked them more than I do” C range. And smack in the middle of it, with a flat C.

Roxette complete, now listening to: Sarah and the Sundays
