345: Dev Lemons (B)

Dev Lemons in tier list

I first saw Dev Lemons as an opener to a 24: half•alive (A+→S-→S)concert about three years ago. 341: Tessa Violet (B-) opened for the same concert, and the next few artists I have queued up to listen to are also all ones that I encountered as openers I’ve enjoyed. I’ve put some of them off for literally years, for basically no reason, so I’m finally getting around to them in one solid burst.

Unfortunately, I don’t really remember anything of my impression of Dev Lemons live at this point. Clearly I liked her enough to add her to my list, but more than that I couldn’t say. Listening through her stuff now, I liked her pretty well, but more than that I still don’t really know that I can say. She’s consistent, and consistently enjoyable, but I never loved it, and there were chunks that edged into a sound that I didn’t really care to try to love. A lot of the parts I liked most reminded me of 294: PVRIS (A-) in a good way. I liked the Delusional EP. I dunno.

While listening, I think I was feeling inclined to give a low A-, but now that I’m thinking through it and looking through the artists I’ve already listened to and ranked, I think a B would fit better. A solid mid-B, that feels alright enough.

Dev Lemons complete, now listening to: Gus Dapperton
